Fast, easy, and budget-friendly— this classic dip is perfect for all types of gatherings, big or small. From birthdays to celebrating the holiday, or snacking on during the big game.

Prep time: 10 min | Servings: 2 to many!

Ingredients

  • Trifle dish or 2” deep glass plan
  • 1 package of La Tortilla Factory Mexican-style Black Beans Authentic Side Dish
  • 1 tub (16 oz) of Yucatan Guacamole (we chose their new Lime Jalapeño for a zesty kick)
  • 1 cup shredded, Mexican cheese blend or sharp cheddar
  • 1 cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese
  • 2/3 cup of shredded iceberg lettuce
  • 8 oz sour cream
  • 1 cup pico de gallo or chunky salsa
  • Tortilla chips to serve, make your own with your favorite La Tortilla Factory tortillas

Directions

Start with one package of La Tortilla Factory Mexican-style Black Beans Authentic Side Dish. Open pouch and heat in microwave for 90 seconds or on stovetop over medium heat until warm (approximately 3 minutes).

Spread black beans on the bottom of a Trifle dish or 2” deep glass plan. Sprinkle 1 cup of shredded Mexican cheese blend or sharp cheddar. Add sour cream and gently smooth to a single layer.

Next, get your guac on. Again, work carefully to spread into a thin layer across the whole dish. Sprinkle remaining cup of Monterey Jack cheese. Follow by a thin layer of crisp shredded lettuce. And top with fresh pico de gallo or your favorite chunky salsa.

Dig in with your favorite tortilla chips.

To make your own tortilla chips: Cut your favorite La Tortilla Factory tortillas into triangles. Arrange on a cookie sheet or parchment paper-lined pan.

Using either a mister or small bowl + silicone basting brush, lightly coat each tortilla with oil of your choice (we prefer avocado oil). Sprinkle with chili powder and sea salt. Finish with a squeeze of lime.

Bake for 7 – 10 minutes until the chips are crisp, but not too brown. We recommend rotating the pan at the 5-minute mark to ensure even baking. If you’re using an Air Fryer cook time will depend on your make and model, please adjust accordingly! Set your air fryer to350°. Place cut tortillas into the air fryer basket and spray with cooking spray. Sprinkle with the seasonings of your choice. Cook them for 4 to 6 minutes. If not all the way crisp, continue to cook in 2-minute increments.
