Cochinita pibil is a traditional slow cooked pork dish from the Yucatán peninsula of Mexico.  Now with the help of our Cochinita Pibil Slow Cooker Sauce Starter you’re able to serve this authentic dish in a matter of minutes.  Chalked full of vibrant achiote, fresh garlic, and aromatic herbs and spices these tacos are sure to impress all your foodie friends!

Ingredients

1 tablespoon oil (optional)

2 pounds boneless pork shoulder, cut into 2-3 inch pieces

1 package La Tortilla Factory’s Cochinita Pibil Slow Cooker Sauce Starter 

1/3 cup water

1 package La Tortilla Factory Non-GMO Hand Made Style Yellow Corn & Wheat Tortillas 

toppings (optional): pickled onions, cilantro, sour cream

Directions

Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Brown meat on all sides. Place meat in a slow cooker. In a small bowl, whisk Slow Cooker Sauce Starter and water until smooth; pour over meat. Cover and cook on high for 5 hours, or until fork tender. Remove meat from slow cooker and shred. Serve with warm La Tortilla Factory tortillas and your favorite toppings!
