This Cinco de Mayo, we are inviting you to #CelebrateAtSuCasa– because we can all use a reason for a little fiesta! You see, we think it’s simply better to celebrate at home with those you love and our fresh-from-the-kitchen flavors. From our handmade-style tortillas to our authentic side dishes and flavor-packed sauces, we’ve got everything you need to #CelebrateAtSuCasa this Cinco de Mayo and beyond!

#CelebrateAtSuCasa

First, it’s important to understand WHY Cinco de Mayo matters. It’s often said that the U.S. celebrates Cinco de Mayo more than Mexico, with the first celebration dating back to 1863 in Southern California. By the 1930s Cinco de Mayo became an opportunity to celebrate Mexican identity, promote ethnic consciousness and build community solidarity. As proud Mexican-Americans, we share in this sentiment and view Cinco de Mayo as a wonderful way to bring people together from all walks of life to pay homage to our culture and the diversity of Mexican cuisine.

Traditional Cinco de Mayo celebrations are bright, colorful, and full of delicious foods. But that doesn’t mean you have to spend the whole day prepping in the kitchen. With the help of our Handmade-Style tortillas, side dishes and a variety of our gluten-free enchilada-style sauces and sauce starters, you’ll be able to create an authentic, flavorful spread as fast as your crew will be able to bust open the piñata. Here are a few more party planning tips to help you fiesta the day away:

  • Simple decor: Keep things bright and colorful with floral arrangements made with pink, yellow, and orange blooms. Add succulents and a mini-cactus or two for an easy tablescape.
  • Crowd-pleasing drinks: For the 21+ crowd, ask your guests to each bring their favorite Mexican beer (Corona, Pacifico, Dos Equis, Tecate, and Modelo are easy to find) or favorite bottle of tequila to share. Then put those bottles to good use with our Classic Margarita and Spicy Paloma recipes.
  • Plenty of flavorful food: From fresh-made guacamole to perfectly pickled onions, we promise it’s surprisingly easy to make authentic dishes that are made with simple, better-for-you ingredients. See all of our favorites here.
  • Respect the Mexican culture: This includes knowing Cinco de Mayo is NOT Mexican Independence Day. Rather, the 5th of May commemorates the Mexican Army’s surprising defeat of France on May 5, 1862 at the Battle of Puebla.
